ASU Child Development Center Learning Garden
Located on the campus of Appalachian State University, the Child Development Center (CDC) Learning Garden was Lettuce Learn's first major project. The garden offers a variety of experiential learning opportunities for the pre-K children attending the CDC and hosts learning garden workshops.
About the GardenGarden planning began in January 2014 when Courtney Baines Smith, an Educational Leadership Doctoral student, was awarded a “Creating a Healthy, Just and Sustainable Student Research Grant” from ASU. The momentum built thanks to the support from Mrs. Peggy, Mrs. Brenda, volunteers from ASU’s Sustainability & Environmental Education Club (SEEC), and CDC parents and staff.
We broke ground in the garden during March 2014 and will continue to work, learn, and play in the months (and years) to come. |
